Galway Bay fm newsroom – Almost €2 million is to be invested in roads across the Ballinasloe region to repair damage caused by severe flooding earlier this year.
It’s part of a €6m pot shared between Galway’s five municipal districts under the national Severe Weather Allocation fund.
€1.7 million will be spent on rehabilitating Ballinasloe’s road network – and works will include the repair and raising of roads, and safety works.
In total, 33 roads across the district will benefit.
The largest allocation of €146,000 will be invested at Cartondoogan, while €127,000 will be spent at Slaght-Camus.
A further €126,000 will go towards works at Esker-Banagher.
Councillor Michael Connolly says that while the funding is welcome, it’s just a drop in the ocean in terms of what’s needed.
