Galway Bay fm newsroom – An application is to be made in the coming days to seek a date for the hearing of the medical negligence case into the death of Savita Halappanavar at UHG.
The 31 year old Indian dentist died in October 2012, one week after presenting herself at the hospital while 17 weeks pregnant.
The solicitor for Praveen Halappanavar says he expects an application to be made within the next week to ten days to seek a date for hearing the medical negligence case into the death of his wife three years ago.
31 year old Savita died from septicaemia on the 28th of October 2012, seven days after being admitted to University Hospital Galway.
She was seventeen weeks pregnant at that time.
City-based solicitor Gerry O’ Donnell, who represents her widower, says Mr. Halappanavar will return from California in the US for the hearing.
He transferred there with his employer Boston Scientific last year.
According to the Irish Times, it’s hoped the medical negligence case hearing will be held in spring of next year.
Mr Halappanavar has always maintained that his wife repeatedly requested a termination in the hospital.
An inquest at the Coroners court was told the miscarriage of her baby was a contributory factor in Savita’s death.
