Galway Bay fm newsroom – A Galway TD is demanding that Leo Varadkar explain what measures are being taken to address lengthy waiting lists for children’s dental treatment at UHG.
Galway East Deputy Anne Rabbitte says that there are more than 3 thousand children waiting for orthodontic treatment – and almost 1 thousand of those are waiting longer than 2 years.
She claims that ongoing staffing issues at the UHG unit mean that procedures are frequently being cancelled and appointments are often severely delayed.
The Fianna Fail Deputy says that waiting lists are spiralling out of control and children across the west are suffering as a result.
Deputy Rabbitte says it’s simply not sustainable and the acting Health Minister needs to outline some sort of plan to address the crisis.
