Galway Bay fm newsroom – The world of commercial sex will be the topic of an academic conference set to take place in the city next week.
The public event is organised by the Commercial Sex Researchers Network of Ireland and will bring together local and international experts to discuss the sex trade at home and abroad.
Economic empowerment, health needs, sexual and reproductive rights, migrant women and feminism and prostitution are just several aspects of the sex trade that the conference will explore.
Among the international speakers will be Amsterdam-based Dr. Lorraine Nencel, who has spent 20 years researching commercial sex in Peru, the Netherlands, Kenya, Ethiopia and Bangladesh.
The public Commercial Sex Colloquium will take place at St. Anthony’s building at NUI Galway on Tuesday at 10am.
Dr Eilís Ward outlines some of the areas of the sex trade the conference will discuss.
