Galway Bay fm newsroom – The trial of a Carraroe man charged with the murder of his brother has been adjourned until later in the week
Declan O Cualáin, of Cuileán, is alleged to have murdered Adrian Folan in Liscannor, Co. Clare on July 4th, 2014.
Today at the Central Criminal Court Mr O’Cualain pleaded not guilty to murdering Mr Folan by reason of insanity.
Adrian Folan was 41 years of age and attending Athlone IT as a mature student when he was reported missing on July 3rd, 2014.
Searches took place in Athlone and Galway until his body was discovered buried beneath rocks at a quarry near the Cliffs of Moher four days later.
His younger brother, Declan Ó Cualáin of Cuileán, Carraroe, was subsequently charged with his murder at Lislorkin North, Liscannor, Co. Clare.
He was charged at a special sitting of Galway District Court and at a further sitting at Ennis District Court in December 2014 he was sent fowared for trial and it was revealed that he had been transferred to the Central Mental Hospital.
A jury was sworn in at the Central Criminal Court in Dublin this morning but evidence won’t be heard until Thursday
