Galway Bay fm newsroom – Around 1 thousand staff at Tesco have voted in favour of strike action over plans by the company to reduce their pay.
Tesco has about 500 staff in Galway and a further 12 thousand nationwide but the dispute relates to 1 thousand employees hired before 1996.
Tesco – which operates stores in the city, Oranmore and Ballinasloe – has opened a voluntary redundancy scheme and has deferred reductions in pay and conditions until next month.
