Galway Bay fm newsroom – Progress is being made in alleviating traffic congestion in Parkmore.
The county council has just granted planning permission to IDA Ireland for a new link road at Parkmore Industrial Estate.
Work on the new link road in Parkmore is expected to take 6 weeks to complete and it’s hoped it will significantly reduce delays for motorists entering the industrial estate at peak times.
It will be based on a ‘left in – left out’ junction arrangement.
The county council has imposed 3 conditions on the construction of the road.
Before construction begins, an uncontrolled pedestrian crossing must be provided at the junction.
Also additional road markings and signage will be required between the proposed junction and the N17.
Finally a contribution of 32 thousand 500 euro must be made to cover the cost of design and implementation of some works outside the site.
