Galway Bay fm newsroom – Major re-surfacing works are now underway on the N18 between Ardrahan and Labane.
The long-awaited works are worth almost three million euro and will allow for a major new pavement overlay along with a number of new road safety measures.
The works will span four sections of the N18 south of Ardrahan towards Labane totalling 2.6 kilometers in length.
The investment also provides for traffic calming measures including pedestrian crossings and public lighting at Labane.
The works are being undertaken by Lagan Asphalt and are expected to be completed in early December.
Galway County Council is warning motorists to expect delays along the route for the duration of the resurfacing works.
Fine Gael Deputy Ciaran Cannon says the investment was badly needed and will address a number of long-standing road safety issues.
