Two more Galway Seanad hopefuls announced

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Two more Seanad hopefuls from Galway had added their names to the list of candidates.
The deadline has now passed for nominations by Nominating Bodies and a county councillor and a former city councillor are on the latest list.
The provisional list of candidates from Nominating Bodies includes former city councillor, John Connolly.
The school teacher, who also ran for the Fianna Fáil party in Galway West / South Mayo in the general election last month, has been nominated to the Seanad by the Irish National Teachers’ Organisation.
He will contest a seat as part of the Cultural and Educational Panel.
Fianna Fáil County Councillor Séamus Walsh has also been nominated to the Seanad on the Cultural and Educational Panel.
He is nominated by Comhairle na d’Tréidlia Veterinary Council.
The period for nominations to the panels by Nominating Bodies expired yesterday but members of the Oireachtas have until noon next Monday to submit their nominations.
Ballot papers will be issued to the electorate on Monday April 11th with the poll closing at 11a.m on Monday April 25th.
Meanwhile, the nominations for the NUI Panel have already been announced.
The list includes Ballygar-based GP, Martin Daly, Galway-native entrepreneur Enda O’ Coineen, City Councillor Pearce Flannery, former Aer Arann boss, Pádraig Ó Céidigh, Alice-Mary Higgins from the National Women’s Council and Ahascragh-native, Rónán Mullen.
Ballot papers for the NUI Panel elections will be issued next Monday March 21st with the close of poll on April 26th at 11a.m.
