Water and coastal searches resume following two incidents on Thursday evening

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Coastal searches are resuming this morning in connection with two incidents reported on Thursday evening
A young man, who’s in his thirties, was seen entering the water at Wolfe Tone Bridge at 6.30 on Thurs evening.
Gardaí and the coastguard helicopter were immediately deployed to Galway Docks and the Claddagh but the man was not found
Later that night at 10 another search was carried out near Mutton Island following reports that a person had been heard calling for help in the area but no one was found
Gardai cannot say at this stage if the incidents are linked
Searches of both areas continued all day yesterday but yielded nothing
The search regarding both reports resumes at 11 this morning involving the Gardai and emergency services
The newly established Oranmore Maree coastal search unit is also joining the search this morning
Volunteers are asked to assembles at Oranmore pastoral centre at 11 beside the church
