Galway Bay fm newsroom – Apple is to host a forum for potential suppliers in Athenry next week.
The event is being held in association with Enterprise Ireland, as Apple gears up to build an 850 million euro data centre outside the town.
An Bord Pleanala will decide in February if the tech giant can proceed with the plans.
The two-day forum, which gets underway this day week, will allow Galway-based enterprises to learn about the proposed development and the kinds of goods and services that Apple will require.
The event will be held in the Raheen Woods Hotel next Wednesday and Thursday, and Galway East TD Ciaran Cannon says it’s a great sales opportunity for Galway businesses.
Meanwhile, Apple is creating up to 1,000 new jobs in Cork.
CEO Tim Cook is in Ireland to make the announcement at the tech giant’s European headquarters in Hollyhill.
