Galway Bay fm newsroom – Funding has been approved for flood relief works at Deerpark in Ballinasloe.
The OPW has sanctioned 19,000 euro for the carrying out of drainage works upstream of the Deerpark River channel.
It follows a commitment made by OPW Minister Simon Harris during a visit to Ballinasloe last December in the aftermath of Storm Desmond.
Outgoing Senator Michael Mullins says the minor works scheme will make a significant contribution to reducing flood risk.
