Galway Bay fm newsroom – A boil water notice has been issued for the Carraroe public water supply.
Irish Water says the notice has been put in place due to the detection of cryptosporidium.
The notice will affect almost 5,000 people in the Carraroe area and Irish Water says it hopes to provide an update on the situation early next week.
In the meantime, residents are advised to boil their water for drinking, food preparation, brushing of teeth and the making of ice.
Further information, including a map of the affected area and additional advice can be found on the Irish Water and Galway County Council websites.
