Galway Bay fm newsroom – The Education Minister says the acquisition of sites for three new school buildings in Athenry is underway.
The issue has been raised in the Dáil by Galway East Fine Gael T.D, Ciaran Cannon.
He said that there has been a serious lack of information on the progress for new buildings for Presentation College, Gairmscoil Mhuire and Gaelscoil Riada.
In 2012, Athenry was identified as an area of demographic growth and new school buildings for Gairmscoil Mhuire and Presentation College were prioritised.
In the Dáil, Deputy Cannon has explained the serious need for new school buildings in Athenry.
Responding on behalf of the Education Minister Jan O’ Sullivan, Minister Jimmy Deenihan said progress is being made.
