Galway Bay fm newsroom – Gardaí are still at the scene of a Traveller blockade at City Hall.
The Travellers who illegally moved into Galway Airport in Carnmore overnight moved to City Hall, where they’re currently blocking the entrance with their vehicles and caravans.
Gardaí attended the airport earlier and the 9 families and their caravans exited the airport and made their way to College Road.
It’s understood the Travellers have blocked the entrance and exit at City Hall.
Gardaí are at the scene since lunchtime.
A meeting has been scheduled for 11am on Monday at City Hall to discuss the crisis.
However, Galway Traveller Movement says the families have nowhere safe to reside over the weekend.
