City St Patrick’s Day parade to be extended into the afternoon

Galway Bay fm newsroom – The Galway city St Patrick’s Day parade is to be extended this year into an afternoon family festival
A new reviewing stand is to be built for Eyre Square and after the parade it will convert into a stage for a concert and family activities
The traditional parade will start at 11.30am at the fire station as normal and follow the usual route and finish at Eyre Square
City council official Gary McMahon told Galway Bay fm news that the national holiday is a family day out
A new co-ordinator has been appointed for the March 17th parade, Frank Cummins
There will also be an event at Spanish Arch the night before
Gary McMahon says the March 16th event and the parade itself on the 17th will have a focus on commemorating 1916
