One in custody in City and two charged in Tuam in Garda stings on burglaries

Galway Bay Fm newsroom-ONE man is still in custody this lunchtime (Sunday) following two overnight burglaries in the Galway and Salthill areas.
Earlier in the week another man was charged regarding a burglary and car theft in Tuam and two others were questioned and charged with having what could be classed as impliments for use in break-ins.
The man detained in the city earlier today was arrested following burglaries at a shop in Bushy Park and at a hair salon in Moycullen.
He was arrested as part of “Operation Thor” a new Garda initiative targeting criminals.
The man who was arrested in a joint operation involving Gardai from Salthill and Galway City is currently being questioned at Mill street Station.
Meanwhile one man was charged and appeared before Harristown Court on Friday following a break-in and the theft of a car at Galway Road, Tuam.
In a joint operation involving Tuam and Loughrea Gardai the man was arrested near Loughrea where the stolen car was crashed. He is remanded in custody to appear again at Tuam court next Tuesday.
In a speparate operation two men were stopped at a checkpoint near Tuam by the Gardai as part of Operation Thor earlier in the week.
They were taken to Tuam Garda Station for questioning regarding impliments found in their vehicle which were suspected could be used for break-ins.
They were charged and released to also appear before Tuam District Court next Tuesday.
