Galway Bay Fm newsroom – NUI Galway is hoping to bolster its flood defences.
The college has applied for planning permission from the city council to build a flood defence wall about 33 metres long and 1.2 metres high.
It would be built along the bank of a section of Distillery Channel water course, a protected structure.
A decision is due from the council next month.
