FYI Galway GE16 summary: Galway West

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Independent City Councillors Catherine Connolly and Mike Cubbard are each hoping to secure one of the five seats in Galway West.
Sitting Galway County Councillor James Charity, who’s independent, and Fianna Fail councillor Mary Hoade will also contest the election.
They’ll be joined on the ticket by sitting Galway West TDs including Labour’s Derek Nolan, Fianna Fáil’s Eamon O’Cuiv, Fine Gael’s Sean Kyne, and Indpendent Deputy Noel Grealish.
Their Seanad colleagues Independent Senator Fidelma Healy Eames, Fine Gael Senator Hildegarde Naughton and Sinn Fein Senator Trevor O’Clochartaigh are also contesting the election.
Joining the familiar faces are a number of new candidates – including 36 year old teacher John Connolly, who’s standing for Fianna Fáil.
Mayo Fine Gael Deputy John O’Mahony, Galway entrepreneur and Social Democrat Niall O’Tuathail, and solicitor Nicola Davoren who’s standing for Renua.
Green party representative Seamus Sheridan and Independent Tommy Roddy will also stand in Galway West.
They’ll be joined on the ticket by Anti Austerity candidate Tommy Holohan and Direct Democracy Ireland candidate Ruairi O’Neill.
