Galway Bay fm newsroom – A struggling Oranmore-based childrens’ cancer charity has been given a ten thousand euro boost by the Irish Cancer Society.
‘Hand in Hand’ was set up in 2006 to offer practical support to families nationally who have a child undergoing cancer treatment, and survives solely on public donations.
Volunteers help by doing household chores in patients’ homes, allowing parents spend quality time with their child.
Recently, the charity said it can no longer afford its running costs and may be forced to shut down.
Speaking to Keith Finnegan, Hand in Hand spokesperson Jennifer Carpenter said charity is still facing an uphill battle.
