Galway Bay fm newsroom – Almost 20 million euro in funding has been announced for the delivery of social housing in Galway city and county.
Over 11 million euro has been sanctioned for the delivery of 55 new social housing units at Ballymoneen Road in the city.
The units will be built alongside 14 other houses which are already under construction at the site.
Galway West TD Derek Nolan says the new units will help to alleviate some of the waiting list backlog in the city.
Today’s announcement also includes almost 8 million euro for social housing in Tuam.
The investment will provide 66 units at Gilmartin Road which are due to be completed in early 2018.
35 of these units will be new builds, while a further 31 homes will be created from the refurbishment of existing properties.
