Galway Bay fm newsroom – A city councillor is demanding answers from the Health Minister over the lack of progress on a health care centre earmarked for Knocknacarra since 2008.
Councillor Donal Lyons says the proposed center was listed as a priority in April 2008, but almost eight years later, little to no progress has been made.
He says the Knocknacarra area is the largest suburb of Galway City with a population of over 15 thousand – and the long awaited center is urgently needed.
The planned Primary Healthcare Center would accomodate a GP, Public Health Nurse, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist and a number of other medical roles.
The Independent councillor says answers are needed from Health Minister Leo Varadkar on the situation.
Councillor Lyons says a significant amount of preparation was done with regard to the planned centre, but the centre itself has yet to materialise.
