Galway Bay fm newsroom – Galway County Council will publish a notice of intention next week in relation to the proposed closure of a section of the R339 near Monivea.
A public meeting on the closure took place in Cashla last week, which was attended by more than 100 people.
Locals in Cashla feel there has been a lack of consultation with them by either the contractors or the council in relation to the planned works.
The Council says the proposed works by Sisk will involve the tie-in of the new overbridge road with the R339 at both ends.
It’s planned to fully close the road for 3 weeks around Easter, which local residents and businesses are opposing.
A petition with over 1 thousand signatures is expected to be given to the County Council.
The council will consider all submissions and then publish its intention in local papers on January 29th.
