Galway animal groups to share 84 thousand euro in funding

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Eleven animal welfare organisations across Galway are to share government funding of 84 thousand euro.
The funding was announced by Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney this afternoon as part of a national fund of over 2.5 million euro.
The largest Galway allocation is going to the city-based GSPCA, which is set to benefit from a boost of 40 thousand euro.
Connemara-based MADRA will receive 8000 euro.
In Williamstown, Whiskers New Park Animal Sanctuary has been awarded funding of 6000 euro, while Forgotten Horses Kinvara and Claddagh Swan Rescue will get 5 thousand euro each.
4000 euro has been allocated to Friends for Wildlife in Letterfrack and Knocknacarra-based charity, Galway Cat Rescue.
Renvyle Cat and Dog Rescue and Clifden Rescue will receive 3500 euro each.
Fellenberg Foundation in Woodford has been awarded 3000 euro, while Flying Irish Greyhounds in Moycullen will get 2000 euro.
Minister Coveney says the funds will be paid to all organisations immediately.
