Galway Bay fm newsroom – The Red Cross is this afternoon (7/12) distributing bottled water in Kiltormer as a result of a boil water notice.
Serious concerns are being expressed this afternoon in the wake of Storm Desmond as the county’s rivers continue to swell.
A boil water notice has been introduced after flooding caused contamination at Ballinasloe’s water treatment plant – however, Irish Water says the plant itself was not damaged due to flood defences in place.
Red Cross crews were in Ballinasloe and its environs yesterday evening to distribute bottled water to residents as the boil notice took effect.
They are in Kiltormer at the moment and will be giving out bottled water in Eyrecourt between 4 and 6 this evening.
The Red Cross will then move to Ballinasloe Fire Station where they will give out bottled water between 8 and 9 tonight.
A full list of roads affected across the county can be found on the Galway County Council website at Galway.ie or at galwaybayfm.ie
We’ll also have extensive up-to-date coverage of flooding in the city and county on FYI Galway from 5 this evening.
