Galway Bay fm newsroom – Homes have been flooded and roads across the county remain impassable this evening as Storm Desmond continues to batter Galway city and county.
MET Eireann has today issued an updated severe weather alert for Galway as heavy rainfall causes significant flooding in most areas.
The status red rainfall warning has been put in place as up to 50mm of additional rainfall is forecast up to the early hours of tomorrow.
A status orange wind warning also remains in place until six this evening, with gusts of up to 120km/h continuing to batter the county, causing damage in some parts of the county.
