Decision due on new school building for Tuam

Galway Bay fm newsroom – A decision on the plans for a new school building for Archbishop McHale College in Tuam is due in the coming weeks.
A planning application for the development has been submitted to Galway County Council.
The site for a new school for Archbishop McHale College is located at the junction of Dublin Road and Athenry Road in the town.
It includes a strip along the northern wall of Tuam cemetery at Athenry Road.
The plans include the removal of selected pre-fabs and the construction of a new part single storey and part two-storey college building.
It’ll have 5 mainstream classrooms, 2 specialist classrooms, administrative space, circulation areas and a special needs unit.
The development also involves the construction of on-site turning and set down areas, car and bicycle parking spaces and external teaching and play areas.
The main site entrance gate will also be relocated.
A decision is due from county planners before the end of the year.
