Unemployment continues to fall across the city and county

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Unemployment across Galway is continuing its downward trend.
There are currently just over 13,850 people out of work in the city and county – down from over over 13,900 in October
The biggest decrease in unemployment last month was in Tuam.
45 people came off the Live Register in Tuam last month, leaving its unemployment figure at 2,085
In the city, 38 people came off the Live Register in November, leaving the city’s jobless figure at 7,003
The next biggest decrease was in Gort where 23 people came off the register last month.
Gort’s unemployment figure now stands at 1,009.
In Loughrea, 22 people came off the Live Register in November, leaving just over 1,310 people out of work in the town and its surrounds.
Ballinasloe’s jobless figure decreased by 14 last month – there are now 1,629 people unemployed in Ballinasloe.
Clifden experienced an increases in unemployment last month.
An extra 50 people signed on in Clifden, leaving its Live Register figure at 823.
Overall, unemployment across the city and county has dropped by 12 percent in the past year.
