Galway Bay fm newsroom – A public meeting will be held in Gort tomorrow (07/12) to discuss concerns over the feared withdrawal of key rural bus services across the county.
It comes as Bus Eireann is considering a plan to restructure its Expressway service.
This would place many Galway bus routes under threat.
A national campaign to save rural bus services is being led by the National Bus and Rail Union.
As part of a series of public meetings, the NBRU will discuss its concerns at the Lady Gregory Hotel at 7.30pm tomorrow.
A further meeting will take place in Tuam on Monday.
Dermot O’Leary is General Secreteray of the NBRU – he says hundreds of weekly routes in Galway are under threat.
Mr. O’ Leary says many rural communities could be left isolated due to the Department of Transport’s flawed public transport policy.
