City official says Shop Street no longer fit for purpose

Galway Bay fm newsroom – A prominent city official has acknowledged that parts of the main thoroughfare in the city centre are no longer fit for purpose
Director of Services Joe O’Neill says Irish Water has been contacted about the levels of surface water on Shop Street
Cllr Frank Fahey told this week’s meeting that you could fish for salmon in some of the puddles on Shop Street
City CEO Brendan McGrath stated that while doing the entirety of the street is a big challenge it may be possible in a partnership deal
He was adamant in his address to councillors on the issue that tarmac will not be put on Shop Street
