Ballinasloe woman at Leinster house to demand deported husband be returned home

Galway Bay fm newsroom – A Ballinasloe woman is at Leinster House today to call on the Taoiseach and Justice Minister to allow her husband to return home from Brazil after being wrongfully deported.
Harriet Bruce met Kleber Medeiros in the town in 2013, and after two years of dating the pair announced their engagement in August of 2015.
However, two days after that annoucement, a member of the public contacted the Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service to claim the couple were planning a marriage of convenience.
Mr. Medeiros, who worked at a meat factory in Ballinasloe, was subsequently deported on July 13th last – six months after the couple’s wedding.
He remains in Brazil despite an acknowledgement from the HSE after his deportation that there is no evidence to support the original objection.
Harriet Bruce is at Leinster House this morning to hand letters into Taoiseach Enda Kenny and Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald demanding his return to Ireland.
Ms. Bruce says her husband was deported without warning and remains in Brazil due to bureaucratic red tape.
