Galway Bay fm newsroom – The High Court has set a date for the hearing of Savita Halappanavar’s medical negligence case.
Savita’s husband Praveen will travel home from the US for the 3-day hearing, which will take place in Dublin on March 10th next year.
He left Galway last year after being temporarily transferred to California by his employer Boston Scientific.
31 year old wife Savita died from septicaemia on the 28th of October 2012, a week after being admitted to UHG.
She was seventeen weeks pregnant at the time, and Mr Halappanavar has always maintained that his wife repeatedly requested a termination in the hospital.
An inquest at the Coroner’s court was told the miscarriage of her baby was a contributory factor in Savita’s death.
Speaking to Keith Finnegan, Praveen Halappanavar’s solicitor Gerard O’ Donnell says Praveen is seeking damages from the HSE.
