Galway Bay fm newsroom – The National Monuments Service is preparing a report on skeletal remains discovered on Omey Islands off the coast of Claddaghduff.
The bones were located near the site of the old church on the Connemara island in June and were removed the following month for examination by experts.
The National Monuments Service says a final report, which will include specialist analysis, is currently being prepared for publication by the end of this year.
Initial inspections suggested the bones were those of a person ages in their twenties and may date back several centuries.
