Galway Bay fm newsroom – Sinn Fein’s Mark Lohan has officially been co-opted onto Galway City Council.
Councillor Lohan, an employee of trade union SIPTU, was chosen to fill the City Central role after his party colleage, Anna Marley resigned her seat in August.
Councillors extended a warm welcome to their new colleague at last evening’s sitting of the Council, with several members praising his track record as a trade union representative.
While stating that she was sure the right person had been chosen for the job, Councillor Collette Connolly remarked that the reduction in female numbers is a shame.
Councillor Lohan wasted no time in contributing to last evening’s proceedings and his first action was to call for the Housing Strategic Policy Committee to meet with greater frequency.
Councillor Lohan told our reporter David Nevin that housing is an area that must be tackled immediately
