Galway Bay fm newsroom – There was a strong showing at a public meeting held in Athenry last night to clarify the position on a new school building for Presentation College Athenry.
The meeting held at the Raheen Woods Hotel was attended by parents and a number of local representatives.
The Board of Management gave a presentation on the current position of the long awaited new school building, which was first approved several years ago.
Last night’s meeting heard that potential sites were sought in 2009 and a suitable 20.9 acre site for a new building was purchased in 2012.
It has remained on the Department of Education’s priority list since 2013 and was included in the five year school building programme announced last week.
Principal Cathal Moore says the meeting cleared up a lot of uncertainty and was the first time many parents were hearing the full story.
