Galway Bay Fm news-Galway City Council will make a decision in the coming weeks on plans to convert decommissioned naval vessel, the LE Aisling, into a floating museum at Galway Docks.
At this weeks meeting of the local authority, Chief Executive Brendan McGrath assured councillors that on-going delays are not an attempt to ‘scuttle’ the plans.
In July, Junior Defense Minister Paul Kehoe gave the City Council five weeks to submit detailed, costed proposals to his Department.
However, no such plan has yet been submitted – but City CEO Brendan McGrath says a decision on the plans will be made in the coming weeks.
The LE Aisling is twinned with the city and was decommissioned at Galway Docks in June following 36 years in service.
