Galway Bay fm newsroom – The board of management at FORUM Connemara is to meet later today (Fri) to discuss whether to appeal a decision on the delivery of the SICAP programme.
Galway County Council awarded the contract for the programme to Galway Rural Development in March of last year – a decision Forum Connemara claimed was flawed in law.
In his judgement at the High Court earlier this month (Aug), Mr. Justice Hedigan refused all reliefs sought by Forum Connemara in its legal challenge against the decision of the Galway County Local Community Development Committee.
The group has since raised concerns that the court ruling cuts off the funding source for vital services, and will severely restrict its ability to support local communities and vulnerable individuals.
FORUM adds that up to seven full-time staff may also now become unemployed from the 1st of October.
The board of FORUM Connemara will meet to consider the judgement this evening.
The applicant has a period of 14 to 21 days in which to appeal the judgement.
