Galway Bay fm newsroom – Homeowners across Galway are being invited to engage in a public consultation process on Irish Water’s ‘Lead in Drinking Water’ mitigation plan.
Over 80 homes across Galway are thought to have lead piping – which is known to cause serious health problems.
Irish Water has compiled a draft plan to manage the replacement of lead pipes nationwide, and the public is being urged to participate.
The plan includes widespread sampling – which is already underway – to inform the public of the risk and help prioritise Irish Water actions.
The draft document is available at water.ie, and the public consultation period will end on Wednesday September 21st.
