Galway Bay fm newsroom – Sulky racing on public roads in Galway could become a thing of the past if bye-laws are introduced by the County Council.
Councillor James Charity, who is also a barrister, has drafted the bye-laws to regulate the use of sulkies on roads.
It follows a similar move by Kilkenny County Council earlier this year.
The bye-laws would propose an outright ban on sulky racing on public roads in Galway unless licenced by the Council.
They would also ban sulkies being used on public roads during peak traffic hours.
