Galway Bay fm newsroom – Skeletal remains discovered on Omey Island, off the coast of Claddaghduff, are now being examined by the National Monument Service.
The bones were located at the end of June near the site of the old church.
They were removed from the scene last week and are now being analysed and dated by experts based at the National Monument Service in Dublin.
Initial inspections suggest the bones were those of a person aged in their twenties and may date back many centuries.
