Turnout and betting down on second day of Galway Racing festival

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Turnout and betting figures were down on day two of the Galway Racing festival.
Just over 15 thousand patrons gathered at the Ballybrit racegrounds – down from over 18 thousand last year.
Tote turnover on day two of the festival was almost 853 thousand euro – down over 36 thousand on the same day last year.
Bookmakers turnover was also down coming in at 946 thousand euro – down from 1.3 million euro in 2015.
The feature race of the day, the Colm Quinn BMW Mile Handicap, was won by Creggs Pipes ridden by Declan McDonogh and trained by Andrew Slattery.
Today is a day meeting with the first race going to post at 3pm for the Tote Maiden Hurdle.
