Galway Bay fm newsroom – Tourism in Connemara has received a boost today following the launch of a new discovery point along the Wild Atlantic Way.
The Derrigimlagh Discovery Point is located south of Clifden and has been developed to feature an interactive interpretative looped walk.
The stories of the location are told across a number of stop points from the entry point to the location of the former Marconi Company landmarks and the landing site of Alcock and Brown.
The project received Fáilte Ireland funding of 1.2 million euro and is managed by Galway County Council in association with Connemara Chamber of Commerce.
Chris Shanahan of Connemara Chamber of Commerce says the events that took place at the site had worldwide significance.
Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Patrick Donovan predicts it will be a bumper year for tourism due to sites such as this.
