Galway Bay fm newsroom – A public meeting to discuss concerns over the lack of progress on a new school for Presentation College Athenry will take place in the town next week.
The meeting is being hosted by the school’s Board of Management, which says that the meeting will inform parents of the reasons behind the lengthy delays on the project.
At present, the one thousand-pupil school is significantly overcrowded with half the student population attending classes in pre-fabs.
Presentation College Athenry has been included in the latest five year building programme released by the Department of Education on Tuesday.
A new building for the school was first approved by the Department in 2012 – and has remained on the Department’s priority list for a new school building since 2013.
The public meeting will take place at the Raheen Woods Hotel on Monday the 23rd at 8pm.
Principle Cathal Moore says the meeting will address increasing frustration over delays on the badly needed new building.
