Official opening for Carraroe fire station

Galway Bay Fm newsroom-Carraroe’s new fire station will be officially opened tomorrow. (Tuesday 7/6)
Nine firefighters operate out of the new facility which is located at the Udarás Industrial Estate in Carraroe.
The facility opened for the first time in February following a 20-year local campaign.
The station covers the area from Spiddal to Maam Cross and the Aran Islands, serving a population of around 10 thousand people.
The official opening will get underway at 11am tomorrow.
Meanwhile, a new carpark will open at Cleggan Pier tomorrow.
User permits for the new facility are being issued for vehicle owners who work on a vassel for more than 183 days a year, and whose vessel uses Cleggan pier as its base for more than 270 days a year.
The remainder of the parking spaces will be used by the public and by people travelling to Inishbofin.
