Galway Bay fm newsroom – The Society for the Irish Motor Industry says the recent boom in car sales across the city and county shows Galway’s economy is on the up.
4003 new ‘161′ cars have been bought in Galway since the beginning of the year.
That’s an increase of almost 20% on the same period last year, and a massive 53% increase on the figure for 2010.
Nationally, new car sales are up by over 23%.
The motor industry is set for the highest number of new car registrations in over seven years this year, with almost 100,000 new cars registered since January.
SIMI spokesperson Brian Cooke says the increase in car sales across Galway could lead to job creation in the motor sector.
