Diaspora funding for 8 Galway community groups

Galway Bay fm newsroom – 8 local community groups in Galway have received a total of 22 thousand euro for projects under the Local Diaspora Engagement Fund.
Minister for the Diaspora and Overseas Development Aid, Joe McHugh, has made the funds available to promote diaspora engagement at a county and local level.
Áras Éanna Arts Centre on Inis Oírr has been awarded 4 thousand euro while the same amount has been allocated to Galway Civic Trust based in the city.
A further 3 thousand 500 has been sanctioned for Larry Reynolds Irish Music, Heritage & Culture group in Ballinasloe.
3 thousand euro has been allocated to Moycullen Historical Society with the same amount going to Woodlawn Heritage Group.
2 thousand euro in funding goes to Muintearas Teo Galway based in Leitir Mór while 15 hundred euro goes to Omey Parishes.
A final allocation of a thousand euro goes to Loughrea Medieval Festival.
Minister McHugh says the funding will support the development of strong diaspora links within the community through a diverse range of projects.
