Former Tanaiste to receive honorary degree from NUIG

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Former Tánaiste and East Galway native Eamon Gilmore and actor and Druid Theatre co-founder Maire Mullen and the ConTempo quartet will be conferred with honorary degrees by NUI Galway next week
University president Dr Jim Browne, will present the degrees on Friday week June 10th in the Bailey Allen Hall in Árus na Mac Léinn.
Eamon Gilmore will be presented with a Degree of Doctor of Laws.
He was born in Caltra, east Galway, and was active in student politics in the then UCG in the early 1970s
Marie Mullen who has a distinguished line of screen and stage credits will receive a Doctor of Arts
The Degree of Doctor of Music will be conferred on ConTempo quartet members Andreea Banciu, Adrian Mantu, Ingrid Nicola and Bogdan Sofei
