Galway Bay fm newsroom – Resources must be provided earlier in the year to ensure amenities at Traught beach in Kinvara are open and maintained.
Local councillor Joe Byrne says there were large crowds at the Blue Flag beach over the weekend, but the public toilets were closed bins were overflowing.
It’s understood funding is only available for a caretaker and life guard from June 1st onwards.
However, Fine Gael councillor says that staff should be put in place earlier in May when the weather is fine.
Councillor Byrne says all parties should work together to ensure facilities at Traught are open for the public.
