Connacht Pro 12 Rugby Champions back in Galway at four

Galway Bay Fm Newsroom-The history-making Connacht Rugby team who had a fairtale finish to their season last evening in Murryfield, Scotland when they beat favourites, Leinster 20-10 will arrive back in Galway at 4 pm today.
There will be scenes of huge celebrations when the team will be oficially welcomed back at 4 pm at the Town Hall Theatre in the city.
There were also wild scenes of jubilation last night when the team arrived back at Knock Airport with The West’s Awake sung to welcome the heroes home.
This evening massive crowds are expected for the Galway homecoming when captain John Muldoon from Portumna will lead the lads back in triumph for the start of the parade from the Town Hall Theatre at 4 pm.
The victorious members of the Connacht Rugby squad will then make their way on an open-topped bus from outside the Town Hall Theatre in Courthouse Square, via Saint Francis Street, Eglinton Street, Williamsgate Street and on to Eyre Square North, Eyre Square East, turning on to Forster Street and then via College Road to the home of Connacht Rugby at The Sportsground where they will be a accorded a heroes’ welcome.
Parking restrictions will be in place all along the route from early Sunday morning. An Garda Siochána and Galway City Council will implement a traffic management plan on Sunday afternoon which will include rolling closures on streets and junctions affected in the area of the bus route and in the vicinity of The Sportsground itself.
Members of the public are requested to cooperate with An Garda Siochána, Galway City Council and Connacht Rugby stewards in ensuring a joyous yet safe occasion.
