Galway Bay fm newsroom – Works are set to begin this week on the installation of public lighting at Labane after more than a decade of campaigning.
The works are part of major upgrades being carried out on the N18 between Ardrahan and Labane, worth almost three million euro.
The long-awaited strip of street lighting will run from Labane Cemetery to Quinn’s filling station on the N18.
The introduction of traffic calming measures is also being undertaken in the village this week, including the installation of curbing.
The multi-million euro N18 upgrade works are being undertaken by Lagan Asphalt and are expected to be completed in early December.
Councillor Michael Fahy says the badly needed lights are the result of years of campaigning.
